I think pigs are considered 'unclean' while all manner of other barnyard animals seem to be just fine as long as they are slaughtered in the correct fashion - at least that's the religious argument. My mother and stepfather killed everything from chickens to pigs and I can't say that I was ever particularly impressed by the stomach contents of one animal over another. Many animals - including dogs - will eat dirt and that expensive crustacean on your plate at the fancy restaurant is a bottom feeder of the lowest order. I've eaten snails, crickets and other fare properly prepared but I draw the line at chicken feet and pork trotters - I guess we really do have too much food in the West and it has spoilt us ;)
